MUST comment

****Josh says he's has enough, so only comment if you agree with him. Plus, I guess there are no men that read our blog. Hmmmmm

I need opinions, so if you read this you must comment!
Josh and I were at Arctic Circle with Aiden. There was a little boy about to hit Aiden. Josh told him to stop and said he would flick his hand just like he does when Aiden hits. Is this OK? I am going with NO. I think it is fine to SAY something to somebody else's child if they are misbehaving, but under no circumstances should you ever touch, in any way, including flicking the hand, a strangers kid. What do you think? If somebody flicked my kids hand I would FREAK out. I believe in punishment but it should be done by the parents. Josh thinks it is perfectly alright to punish, by flicking apparently, other peoples kids.

I'd have to go with you on that one. I would certainly be okay with saying something to the child, and the parent if I deem it necessary, but I wouldn't touch another kid unless it was really necessary, and then just to move them or something like that.

I would have to say no unless you have the other parent's permission to discipline their child like that. It's definately ok to say something to the other parent and to the child though.

oh oh oh i have a comment but my word verification is "prick"... I just had to tell you!

Josh is wrong wrong wrong. I would flip out if a stranger ever touched my kids. And if they flicked or hit them, there would be hell. And no offense but I think flicking a child is demeaning and doesn't help correct the problem. Old fashioned beatings will help correct the problem though...(I'm kidding... those who take everything soooo seriously). Anyways, my point is, Josh is wrong. That's not ok. Did I say Josh is wrong yet?

Rachael is a spaz (would that be how you spell it?)! And NO, its not ok to touch someone elses kid unless you have permission, I would go with written. Flicking is good in ages 2-4 because it gets attention, which is the best way to make your child aware that something is wrong, but you can do that by haveing a load voice, or clapping your hands loadly, i.e. getting attention. With someone elses kid, this is the best route, and the most legal.

I agree with everyone. Say something to the child and if necessary involve their parents. For fun I think you should write Dear Abby. Ha.
