Christmas Gifts

For my latest rant click the link on the right, called "Em's Opinions."

I can't believe we lasted this long...

What a week! I am now afraid to blink, in case after the blink I will find Aiden in a life threatening position. I am now up way past my bedtime because there literally is NO more mom time in the day.
I had been bragging about Aiden the day before to my dad. I was proud at how much he was exploring without needing his mommy by his side every second. It started last Sunday. I was in the storage room finding Halloween decorations, Josh was doing dishes by the back door, with a view to check on Aiden. I came out, stuck my head out the open door. Where is my baby? I look to the dogs who are usually near him, and start heading in their direction. Something moved me to look right and I saw my baby boy perched on top of our fort. Our fort that is 8 feet off the ground! I dropped what was in my hands, screamed and RAN towards him. I have never been so shaken. I could not calm down.
"How did he get up there?" you ask. Oh, we had a six foot construction ladder leaned up against the fort that we used to get up. Sorry no pictures, much too rushed to save him.

So the week continued with one eye always on Aiden. While this eye was on him, Thursday, he fell on our elliptical machine, I watched it happen and picked him up. Saw what I thought was just a bloody nose so I put a paper towel on it and got out the Tylenol. After more examination I realized (how do I put this without grossing you out?) his left nostril wasn't really attached to his little face anymore. Once again, I lost it. After about 8 hours in the ER at Primary Childrens, and 4 stitches, all is well.
He did so Great! When they gave him his IV, (so they could sedate him for the stitches) I held his hand, closed my eyes and talked to him. I kept waiting for the scream, but all I heard was, "all done." He didn't even wimper. It did take 2 doses of the medicine to sedate him. They said it will take at least 45 minutes for it to wear off and up to a few hours. 15 minutes later the monkey was back:) Here are some pictures. The sedation looks sad:(
The boo boo

The great IV cast, I use to hit Mama with.

"I don't want to play with these crappy toys. Get me home."

Sedated.

Coming out of sedation with 4 new stitches. Cheeeese!

Josh was much better at this than me. I know there are more to come with this little boy but it is hard.

New England

A few weeks ago we got to visit some fun friends in New Hampshire. What an action packed week. I wanted to post this sooner but there were so many pictures to decide from. Wish I could have put them all.
We arrived very late Tuesday night. After a very exhausting flight. Traveling with a toddler can really take it's, toll.
Wednesday morning it was off to Boston! Freedom Trail, China Town, Little Italy, some giant bean that is really in Chicago...

Aiden charmed a squirrel in a park. That wasn't the only animal of the day. A giant police horse head butted me and geese bit my fingers. Both of which would painful.
We ate Boston Cream Pie at the place that originally created it. Aiden was napping, but we couldn't let him miss our family tradition of eating loacational? food. SO he was awakened for the last couple bited.

After Dinner we headed to Rhode Island. We hadn't heard there was much to do but we had to cross it off our list. That night Aiden ran around the hotel lobby like a crazy boy. Pretty much all night. I crashed in the room long before he and Josh did. We checked out a few shops and a mall in Rhode Island. We saw the State house. Josh got a parking ticket. I'd say we call it a day and head off to Salem, Mass. Yes, folks, Salem, witches, Halloween, I was a kid in a candy store. I am going back next year! And the next!

Castle in the Clouds. AKA, My Future Home.
We couldn't forget Maine and Lobster Rolls. We had dinner in Kunnibunkbeds. Or maybe Kennibunk Port. Cute town on the water. Yummilicious food. I think we are seeing a pattern with food and our vacations. yummy yummy. At this point I think the little boys had had their fill of the car. There was a screaming match the last bit of the ride home. And us grownups were so frazzled all we could do was laugh.

Saturday, The end of our Journey. Today we went to Mount Washington Resort. Possibly our second home. Another beautiful sight. This time of year is amazing. We LOVE the fall colors! The boys had a better day today. Josh decided it was a stroller free day and we were going to let the boys wander and run and be free. A bit of chaos at times but they did enjoy themselves.

My opinions

I have an opinion about everything. So I am creating a blog just about those things.

I'll add a link to the side when I figure out how :)

Conference Sunday

Sundays are already a pretty long day for me. Add not going to church and 4 hours of conference. Wow. We made the most of the day. We went for a walk between sessions.
Aiden got his jammies really dirty on the walk, so we took them off and I guess we are just too lazy to get him dressed again.
Josh and Aiden made me pancakes. He does have a diaper on under there.

After the second session I went to pick up my grandpa to bring him over for dinner. As I left I told Josh to be ready for dinner when I get home. He said he was ready now. I was getting close to home and realized, I hadn't told him to get Aiden ready. So I called him and said make sure Aiden is dressed as well. "What do you want him to wear?" "I don't care as long as he is dressed." As those words left my mouth I should have known..
(Me) "What is he wearing?" (Josh) "It's what he picked out."
Those are pants to his track suit. His vest, is a vest, should go over a long sleeve shirt. Not just be worn like a wife beater tee.
Even he is embarrassed by what he is wearing!

The Pillow

Josh and I have a pillow. An amazing, wonderful, soft, delicious pillow. Well actually this pillow belongs to Josh. He had it long before me. I inherited the pillow while I was pregnant. Only, while I was pregnant. Upon the arrival of little Aiden, the pillow returned to it's rightful owner. A few months ago Josh had a bad bout with snoring. I requested he find a solution. He did and the solution involved a blanket contraption that elevated his head. During this time, I had visitation with the pillow. Josh bored with this new sleeping arrangement and after a couple months demanded the pillow once again lie beneath his head.
Oh how I have searched for a pillow equal to this one's grandeur. I spent a pretty penny on pillows I hoped would match it's glory. There will never be a pillow as great as this.
On magnificent nights like tonight when Josh works late or nights that Josh is out of town on business. The pillow cheats on him with me. Oh what incredible affair we have...

I'm Raising a Toddler?

Today Aiden had his 15 month checkup. The Dr. kept referring to him as a toddler and all the things he does are appropriate for a toddler. Excuse me? This is my baby.
BTW: Raising a toddler is much harder than raising a baby. I find myself more tired than I was when I was waking up several times in the middle of the night.
On to the stats:
Weight 18 lbs. 11 oz. (again no longer on the charts, if they had to guess -25%)
Height 30 1/2 inches (25th percentile)
Head 48 cm (75th percentile, he gets that from his dad)

The rants begin... Why is there even percentile charts if every kid isn't on them? The Doctor said his weight is a concern and if he doesn't start gaining weight we have to consider a feeding tube. WTF? (Yes I am think those words in my head, tsk tsk). You want to stick a feeding tube down a perfectly happy healthy little boy, who eats more than me and has crazy energy and super smarts. She said it isn't a health concern since he is developing appropriately but a caloric concern. So you want to traumatize my son cause he is little? Some people are just small. They wouldn't starve an overweight baby or pump his stomach. This is the first appointment I didn't leave crying. I left angry. I mean MAD. Hell will freeze over before they stick a tube down my son's throat.
So Aiden gets to eat Peanut Butter Moo'd's from Jamba Juice for breakfast (one of the top 10 most fattening food in America). Butter on everything and qwik in his milk. Lucky little kid. What an issue I am going to have getting him to eat healthy once we get him up to par.

My little toddler has decided he likes Zeke the best lately. Sorry Toby. And I am even more sorry Zeke. He is little and Aiden can hold him or thinks he can hold him as he puts both hand around his neck.

Any first since last checkup. He is now walking, well he has moved onto running.
Words: He says "Oh Wow." When something cool happens. He says "Cheese" when we get out the camera. Grandma said he said "Candy" but I am yet to hear it.
First Real full blown tantrums. Yippee! First time out. I am sure there are more...
